We are still working on commercializing the patented technology we licensed from LSU AgCenter a few years ago. This is the project that got us interested in bird control in the first place. It involves a robotic boat that will patrol lakes and ponds with bird control in mind. A good amount of progress has been made in the programming portion of the program over the last few weeks. We hope to have a system, which will be tethered, not autonomous, out for some tests runs in the next few weeks.
From there we will see what interest develops and proceed to work on the fully autonomous and/or remote controlled versions. We already have computer hardware and software lined up for autonomous navigation, which will be Arduino based. We have a hardware (motors, remote controller) platform on the drawing board.
I ran across a interesting article covering the South Korean bird scaring robot that has been in development by their military. What do you think about that system? Lots of development $ went into that system for sure....

Scarebot Project
There has been some interest lately in the Scarebot. There is a company that is
interested in developing a project dealing with bird control. While I can't get
into details, it looks to be great project. Check out the Mt. Pelia Innovative Solutions blog for more detailed information.

A blog for information about bird control!
This blog is meant to be a compliment to our main webpage, which is http://www.scarecrow-bird-control.com. There you will find original content concerning bird control methods and devices. You can also shop for unique bird control devices there as well. We hope that in the coming months we will be able expand that site by continuing to add new content and market new products. We have several products that we are working on. Some are modeled from products available overseas while others are totally new in concept.
One such product is the Angry Hawk bird scarer (picture above). We have built several prototypes. We plan on offering a unit that has a portable base, as shown, and also a version that can be easily mounted to a standard metal fencepost.
We have also built several prototypes of what we call the Scare-inator (shown below). This guy is an inflatable that is equipped with a electronic timer and controls. The fan powered unit will activate for 20 seconds every 10-15 minutes. Included are a siren and strobe light. It does a good job of mimicing a human.

We also have plans in the works to introduce a new type of propane cannon. These bird control devices (shown below) have long been staples in agricultural crop production. The problem is that the are extremely loud, around 125 or more decibels and are often not used properly. They can become a terrible nuisance to neighbors and livestock. We hope to offer a unit that produces and slightly lower sound level and electronically controlled to prohibit the operator from firing nearly continuously and that will be more effective that a standard cannon.
One other project we have is the Robo Scarebot boat. It is a autonoumous boat to be used in scaring fish-eating birds away from ponds and fisheries. We have licensed this technology from the LSU AgCenter and hope to have a product available for purchase in the spring of 2013.
We have been working on our Predator Feather product as well!
Stay tuned for other unique bird scaring products and projects from www.scarecrow-bird-control.com .
